I agree with all of the above. I tried installing QuickBooks Desktop Accountant from my software downloads online. Went through all the prompts on 2 different computers. At the end of the installation the “Open QuickBooks” button is grayed out and there is no icon on my desktop. It does however add “QuickBooks Server ” to my add or remove programs list. That is the only evidence I can find that it installed something but it sure wasn’t QuickBooks Desktop.
I installed it 3 times in a row on one machine thinking there was a one-time fluke. This is not the case it is a consistent issue. Mine was defaulting to 3rd option as well. Had the same issue. This solution resolved it. Defaults to network install only so doesn’t install full program. Use custom and choose correct option. Easiest solution is to install custom and choose and then you get your software to work Took less time my way.
